A few green shoots among downcast GDP figures

A few green shoots among downcast GDP figures

Stats NZ revealed this morning a 0.2 percent contraction for the three months to June - following 0.1 percent growth in the March quarter.

Despite the overall fall, seven industries recorded growth - led by manufacturing, which had its best rise in activity in three years.

But Kiwibank economist Jarrod Kerr says New Zealand's still not out of the woods.

He says there are signs of improvement, but no sector has been immune to this recession.
