Aston Villa have guaranteed themselves European football next season after holding on with 10-men for a 1-nil Premier League win away to Bournemouth

Aston Villa have guaranteed themselves European football next season after holding on with 10-men for a 1-nil Premier League win away to Bournemouth

Villa - who rise to provisional sixth - had Jacob Ramsey sent off in the 80th minute after receiving a second yellow card.

Earlier - Southampton moved past the record low points after a scoreless draw with Manchester City.

The result lifted the Saints to 12 points - bettering Derby County's record of 11 from the 2007-08 season.

City stay third - but can be overtaken by either Newcastle or Chelsea after their game later tonight.

European hopefuls Brentford scored a 1-nil win away over already relegated Ipswich Town.

Brighton maintained their push for a place in Europe by beating Wolves 2-nil.

Everton have come-from-behind for 3-1 away victory over Fulham
