The search is on for the designer of Wellington's next big sculpture

The search is on for the designer of Wellington's next big sculpture

The City Gallery is set to re-open early next year, having shut for refurbishments in 2024, and is looking for a Kiwi-born artist to create a major outdoor sculpture.

It must be able to stand up to the force of Wellington winds, and will be front and centre for those in area.

Project manager Megan Dunn says it's a fantastic opportunity for local artists, and is looking forward to checking out applications over summer.

She says the city has always had art at its heart, and is looking forward to being part of the renewal.
