    ACC data shows over the past five years, New Year's Day accidents have prompted more than 27-thousand claims.

    New Years Eve take second place, with nearly 23-thousand injury reports.

    ACC Injury Prevention Lead James Whitaker says a risky cocktail of factors can come into play, including fatigue, sun, large groups - and drinking.
