    Records could roll as an Australian heat wave crosses the Tasman


    Heat alerts have been issued for several parts of the country this weekend, with Metservice warning temperatures could hit 38 degrees in Hawkes Bay this weekend.

    Firefighters are bracing for the spike in hot weather, warning wind and heat can increase the risk of fire breaking out.
