Chase Infiniti botched Leonardo DiCaprio's beard when she cut it whilst they bonded before shooting One Battle After Another

The 25-year-old actress failed her grooming task - set by the action-thriller film's director, Paul Thomas Anderson, 55, to see how Leonardo's facial hair would appear - and gave the 51-year-old actor a "crooked" beard because she had "never used an electric shaver" and "didn't know what I was doing".

Appearing on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday (14.01.26), she said: "Around the time that I was getting to my last callback and chemistry reads, one of the things that Paul had me do to kind of have me and Leo bond was I ended up shaving his face.

"Paul was trying to figure out what his facial hair was going to look like. And he was like, 'Here, Chase, go in and shave his face.' And I was like, 'I've never used an electric shaver before, so I don't know what I'm doing.'

"And I ended up making it crooked. So, somewhere, there's a video of me shaving his face."

Jimmy, 58, was in disbelief at Chase's revelation.

He said: "Really? That's a weird thing to do, isn't it? That's a lot of responsibility. That face is like a national treasure."

Chase noted that she was nerve-stricken as she buzzed off the Oscar winner's facial hair.

The star said: "I was shaking the entire time. I was like, 'So sorry, I hope I don't do anything wrong.'"

Jimmy then wondered if Leonardo had a say in whether or not he was happy for "an amateur face shaver doing that to his face", or if "Paul is completely in charge" with regards to Chase's task.

Laughing, Chase replied: "It was definitely Paul."

Jimmy spoke to Chase three days after One Battle After Another scooped up four gongs at the Golden Globes on January 11 - Best Film - Music or Comedy, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress for Teyana Taylor (Perfidia Beverly Hills).

In November 2025, Chase said she did not feel nervous about working with Hollywood legend Leonardo on the movie - which follows washed-up revolutionary Bob Ferguson (Leonardo) confront his violent past and finds his missing daughter Willa (Chase) - because of their bonding sessions.

Chase told People: "I actually felt very calm going into that day because I had had the chance to meet Leo and workshop that scene and workshop our dynamic a lot. I felt very calm going into it, which was nice."

And earlier this year, Chase told the publication that she relished the opportunity of working with Leonardo.

She said: "I'm so grateful for the entire experience."
