A new weight loss drug may come to market, but it's not the best one out there

Pharmac has received two applications to fund Wegovy or semaglutide and guidance is expected to be published later this month.

Auckland University Paediatric endocrinologist Wayne Cutfield is surprised Pharmac didn't go to the market for a more powerful weight loss drug, like Tirzepatide .

He says there's a five percent difference between the two drugs .. in terms of the average body weight someone loses.
