Disagreement within the Reserve Bank, on how soon to again raise the Official Cash Rate

Disagreement within the Reserve Bank, on how soon to again raise the Official Cash Rate

The monetary policy committee has reached a consensus decision to keep it unchanged at 2.25 percent.

Committee members don't want to prematurely push up interest rates - and dampen economic recovery, but also don't want to move too slowly and let inflation get too high.

One member reckons the OCR could be hiked earlier, if the economy recovers as expected.

Another warns, going too soon, will push businesses to raise prices, thinking demand is high.
