Pharmacists are coming across plenty of errors but doctors aren't always to blame

An audit of 68 pharmacies in Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki and Tairawhiti discovered almost 1200 mistakes in just a week.

Midland Community Pharmacy Group CEO Pete Chandler says many of them have been due to of IT systems.

He says the rise in the use of computers has created issues because the electronic system doesn't allow for final checks, and can't pick up errors.
