Otago Police are appealing for the public's help after a ute was stolen from a local address with the owner's dogs still inside

The burglary took place at Omakau near Alexandra, yesterday at about 1pm.

Police say they are trying to locate a white Holden Colorado ute and two dogs belonging to the owner.

The owner describes the dogs as a blue heeler named Nala and a black huntaway cross named Jock, in a post on social media.

A trailer that was attached to the ute has since been found.
