Police are asking for help finding a man who has gone missing near the Taranaki town of Stratford

Michael Tippett was last seen around midday on Thursday in Cardiff, which is about five kilometres from the town.

The 39-year-old is believed to have been on foot.

He was wearing dirty green farm overalls over a black-and-white checked shirt, and grey gumboots.

Anyone who has seen him or who has information on his whereabouts is urged to call 10-5.
