Christchurch Police are still hunting for two people following a car jacking yesterday

Christchurch Police are still hunting for two people following a car jacking yesterday

A driver at the intersection of Langdons Road and Morrison Ave in Papanui was assaulted and received minor injuries in the car theft just before 4pm.

Police say the offenders appear to have then crashed the car on Reynolds Ave in Bishopdale - fleeing on foot, and stealing a second vehicle.

The second vehicle was spotted on Woodstock Place in Russley, a short time later - but after a brief pursuit, officers lost sight of it.

It was found abandoned near the Waimakariri Gorge Bridge.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents or who has other information is asked to contact police.
