Two people have died on our roads, in separate incidents

Two people have died on our roads, in separate incidents

It takes the Queen's Birthday holiday road toll to two.

One person's died following a crash on State Highway 2 near Moresby Street, in Karangahake in the area of the Karangahake Gorge last night.

The person sustained serious injuries in the two-car crash and was taken to hospital, where they later died.

Meanwhile, another person has died, after a collision involving a cyclist and a car yesterday, in the Christchurch suburb of Hoon Hay.

The person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries, but their condition deteriorated and they subsequently died.

Police say enquiries into both crashes are ongoing.

Last Queen's Birthday, six people were killed on the roads.
