Collins entered Parliament in 2002 as the MP for Clevedon, which was renamed as Papakura in 2008

She is the party's first female leader since Jenny Shipley departed in 2001.

Collins held a number of portfolios under the John Key/Bill English Government - including Corrections, Police, Justice, Revenue and Energy and Resources.

She just released a memoir, Pull No Punches, detailing her time as minister.
