Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Wilcox will head home with a gold medal intact

Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Wilcox will head home with a gold medal intact

The New Zealand men's 470 sailors have won the European championships in Portugal.

The pair went into the top-10 medal race in second, eight points behind a French duo, needing to finish at least four boats ahead of them.

They managed to do so in the double points showdown, with Snow-Hansen and Willcox fourth and the French ninth.

Snow-Hansen says it's a great confidence boost ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
