A silver lining to Michael Venus's first round doubles loss at Wimbledon

A silver lining to Michael Venus's first round doubles loss at Wimbledon

The fifth seeded Kiwi and his German partner Tim Puetz have been beaten in five sets by venus's former partner Raven Klaasen and Brazil's Marcelo Melo.

There are no ranking points at Wimbledon this year because the tournament's ban on Russian and Belarussian players and Venus says it softens the blow.

Better news for fellow Kiwi Erin Routliffe who is through to the second round of the women's doubles with Polish partner Alicja Rosolska.

Men's second seed Rafael Nadal and women's top seed Iga Swiatek have won through to the third round in singles action.
