Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt hopes the situation with the Melbourne Rebels is cleared up soon to give clarity on players futures

The Rebels are in adminstration and their future beyond this season in Super Rugby is squarely in doubt although a rescue plan is reportedly being formulated by investors.

Rebels first five Carter Gordon's talked to NRL clubs about a code switch and other players have been linked with moves elsewhere and abroad.

Schmidt concedes clarity would be good.
