Calls for more research around long covid - so action can be taken by the Ministry of Health

According to the New Zealand Medical Journal, definitions of long covid require updating, because it's become clear the virus is more complex than first thought.

It's made up of several sub groups - the majority relating to organ damage, or chronic fatigue syndrome.

Dr. Angus Mackay says the difference between the two, haven't been distinguished yet.

He says it's a complete mess - as it's not clear in studies what type of long covid patients are suffering from.
