Todd Chrisley has been sacked from his job at a prison chapel

The 'Chrisley Knows Best' star - who was jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of 12 counts of tax evasion and fraud earlier this year - had been working alongside the chaplain to help organise services for inmates at FPC Pensacola, Florida, but has now been relieved of his administrative duties by prison officials, his lawyer, Jay Surgent, told TMZ

The lawyer believed Todd was doing a good job but had been working out of an office next to the facility's Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and prison officials objected him speaking to the inmates in the scheme.

While it is unclear what the 55-year-old star had said to the RDAP participants - who spend part of their time in jail and the rest outside of the facility - his attorney thinks staff didn't want him communicating about his incarceration with part-time prisoners who have access to the outside world.

Todd hopes to get his job back soon but is still able to attend religious services.

A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said: "For privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including their work detail assignments."

After Todd and his wife Julie were first found guilty of tax fraud, the reality star said they were putting their faith in God during the testing time.

Speaking before they reported to prison, Todd said on their 'Chrisley Confessions' podcast, Todd said: "I know all of you guys are wanting to know every detail that is going on in our lives, and I have to ask that you respect that we're not allowed to talk about it at the present time. There will come a time.

"We did want to come on today and let everyone know that it's a very sad, heartbreaking time for our family right now but we still hold steadfast in our faith and we trust that God will do what he does best because God's a miracle worker."

The couple have repeatedly proclaimed their innocence and claimed a trusted employee had been stealing and blackmailing them.
