Questions around the privacy risks from surveillance

Questions around the privacy risks from surveillance

The Privacy Commissioner is looking into Police knowledge of former Green MP Golriz Ghahraman being questioned by an Auckland PakNSave's security staff.

Foodstuffs did not report it to police, but the incident was recorded on the Auror retail crime platform, which Police can search - even when no complaint's lodged.

Herald reporter David Fisher says the Commissioner is seeking more information.

He says it will be looking into whether Police use of the platform was within the rules.
