Canterbury continues to buck national property trends

Latest figures from the Real Estate Institute show the national median house price fell 1.7 percent in the year to January, to 750-thousand dollars.

    Canterbury's rose 4.5 percent to 675-thousand.

Chief executive Jen Baird says the region's market remains strong overall, with sale volumes also up 30.1 percent on last year.

She says there was 28 percent more listings coming to market this January - and she's expecting a busier summer in Canterbury.
