Rowan Hewitson's been sentenced at Wellington District Court to 10 months home detention and 200 hours community work.

He imported 36 packages addressed to fake people at various homes in his area.

Herald Reporter Melissa Nightingale was at the trial, and says he was caught after a local resident reported him to police.

She says she recognised him from previous times he claimed his package was delivered there, and it was addressed to a woman.
