Traffic restoration over Takaka Hill is on track to be completed in time for Christmas

Traffic restoration over Takaka Hill is on track to be completed in time for Christmas

The Transport Agency says work to repair storm-damaged sites on State Highway 60 at the top of the South Island, is progressing well - and the two lane road will be open and resealed before the summer holidays.

Nelson Tasman System Manager Rob Service says they've used local contractors with local knowledge of the route and previous construction designs, to turn a 12-month job into a six-month one.

He says they're building back at pace and adding extra resilience to help future-proof the roads against weather-related damage in the future.
