Ukraine has marked its fourth Christmas at war under continuing Russian attacks, with nationwide power outages and little optimism that ongoing diplomatic efforts will soon bring an end to the conflict

Celebrations came as Kyiv awaits Moscow's official response to a 20-point peace framework prepared by Ukraine and the United States, presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy earlier in the week following extensive negotiations with Washington.

The mood remained subdued as Russian strikes against energy infrastructure continued through the night into Christmas Day.
