Jessica Simpson is "glad" things didn't "work out" with her ex Tony Romo

The 45-year-old singer has revealed she recently reconnected with her ex, also 45, after they previously dated from November 2007 to July 2009, the same year she bought him a speedboat as a gift

Speaking to fans at the recent 2025 Women Who Rock Benefit Concert, she said: "A couple weeks ago my mom got a phone call.

"And he's calling my mom, saying, 'Well, Tina, I'm selling the boat.' And my mom's like, 'Okay, and?'

"He's like 'Well, Jessica's name is still on the title,' So, then I get paperwork, and I have to sign over this boat for him to sell.

"And guess what he gave me as a thank you? Plastic cups. I'm like, 'Wow, I'm glad we didn't work out.'"

According to reports at the time, the With You hitmaker bought the boat as a gift for the former NFL star for $100k.

Jessica is currently single after splitting from husband Eric Johnson in January after 10 years of marriage.

She recently admitted a lot of "cute guys" have caught her eye in the months since their breakup.

Discussing her contenders for People's Sexiest Man Alive, she told the publication: "I mean, there are a lot of people who are sexy.

"I'm single, so everybody's sexy right now.

"There are a lot of hotties... There are a lot of cute guys out there."

Jessica - who has Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and six-year-old Birdie with Eric - went on to list Charlie Hunnam, James Franco and Jamie Dornan as her top picks for the honour.

In July, Jessica revealed that she was ready to start dating again.

When asked by Today show co-host Jenna Bush-Hager: "Are you interested in dating? Can I set you up with anybody?"

Jessica replied: "I'd totally jump on that. Yes I'm single - very into like, very ... I'm ready!"

Jenna subsequently questioned: "What are you into so I can set my criteria?"

And Jessica then explained: "My type of person is one of a kind. I don't have a look, or anything.

"I just like for somebody to be individually, who they are. And exude confidence without the ego.

"It's hard to find but I feel like it's out there. I don't need somebody to be supportive of me all the time.

"I feel like the independence that I have right now, if I can have that and give it to someone else, that'd be cool."
