Alice Cooper has a "perfect marriage"

The 77-year-old rocker - whose real name is Vincent Furnier - began dating Sheryl Goddard when she performed on stage with him in the late 1970s, and almost 50 years after they married, the dancer is still part of his live shows and the couple wouldn't have it any other way.

Alice - who has three children with Sheryl - told Classic Rock magazine: "That's so much part of our show, so much of our sense of humour, and Sheryl is showbiz all the way.

"She started with the Joffrey Ballet and was Goldie Hawn's stunt double back in the day, so she can't wait to get on the road.

"She's as much of a road rat as I am.

"We sit together putting our make-up on before the show in the same dressing room and it's like Burns and Allen, a showbiz couple that can't get enough showbiz and can't get enough of one another.

"If I was gonna choose to hang out with one person on this planet for the rest of my life, it would be her, on any level, she's that much fun.

"It really is a perfect marriage."

Despite his advancing years, the School's Out hitmaker insisted he doesn't feel his age and thinks having a lifestyle that hasn't been "destructive" has helped him keep performing.

He said: "Nobody was supposed to last this long. But you look at the Stones, McCartney and Ringo and you go, 'Hey, if you're in good physical shape and have a lifestyle that's not destructive, why not?'

"My lifestyle is anything but destructive. I'm the most optimistic person on the planet, always have been.

"So when I'm on tour, if you asked me, 'How old are you?' and I didn't know, I'd probably say mid-forties. Genuinely.

"I get off the stage and I'm not breathing hard and that's a matter of adopting a young mindset.

"If I bought into, 'I'm 77 years of age...' that's who I'd become but I'll never do that."
