Katy Perry has urged Bad Bunny to show the "real American dream" to the world with his halftime show at the Super Bowl

The 41-year-old singer has thrown her support behind the Latin superstar before his performance at the NFL showpiece between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks in California on Sunday (08.02.26) amid criticism of the Puerto Rican rapper from US President Donald Trump and other conservative figures.

Katy - who performed the halftime show back in 2015 - wrote on social media platform X: "you got this @sanbenito remind the world what the real American dream looks like #SuperBowlLIX."

Bad Bunny has promised that his Super Bowl performance will be a "huge party" despite all the talk surrounding it.

The Mia hitmaker, whose real name is Benito Martinez Ocasio, told Apple Music Radio hosts Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden: "I just want people to have fun. It's going to be a huge party, what people can always expect from me.

"Of course, a lot of my culture. I don't want to give any spoilers, but it's going to be fun!"

Despite this, Bad Bunny doesn't want to put too much pressure on himself ahead of the big game.

Speaking about his preparations for the show, the 31-year-old star explained: "I wake up, work out, [drink] my coffee, try not to think too much about it. I want to think that it's just 13-minutes of doing something that I love.

"I'm trying to enjoy it. I know I'm going to have fun. Everyone is going to have fun that day. I'm trying not to put pressure."

Meanwhile, Shakira previously revealed that she feels "proud" of Bad Bunny for performing the Super Bowl halftime show.

The Colombian singer performed with Bad Bunny during her own halftime show back in 2020, and she can't wait to see another Latin star appear on the biggest sporting stage.

The Hips Don't Lie artist told Variety last year: "It's about time!

"I remember when we did ours that even having part of our set in Spanish was a bold move... Acceptance of Spanish-language music as part of the mainstream has come so far from when I started.

"I hope and like to think that all the times my music was met with resistance or puzzlement from the English-speaking world before it was embraced, helped forge the path to where we are now.

"And I'm so proud that Bad Bunny, who represents not only Latin culture but also how important Spanish language music has become on a global scale."
