    Last year reached a record migration low

    Last year reached a record migration low


    Latest Stats NZ data shows New Zealand had a net migration gain of 14-thousand-200.

    That is down from just under 24-thousand in 2024 - and the lowest figure since 2013, not including 2021.

    It is well below this century's average sitting on about 30-thousand-600.

    A spokesperson says it's driven by a six-percent decrease in migrant arrivals compared with 2024 - as migrant departures rose one-percent.
