House panel releases videos of Bill and Hillary Clinton answering questions about Epstein

Bill Clinton told the committee that he had ended his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein years before the financier pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution, and Hillary said she never even recalled meeting him.

The recorded depositions of former US president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton answering questions about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have been released.

Both Clintons distanced themselves from Epstein in the more than nine hours of footage released.

The US House Oversight Committee released the videos as part of its investigation into the disgraced financier and his ties to prominent public figures.

Mr Clinton told the committee that he had ended his relationship with Epstein years before the financier entered a guilty plea in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from an underage girl.

Ms Clinton said she never even recalled meeting Epstein.

They faced hours of questioning under oath from politicians who are searching for accountability for anyone who was aware of or ignored Epstein's abuse of underage girls.

Bill Clinton discusses Trump and Epstein's jet

The former Democratic president said he first remembered meeting Epstein when he flew aboard his private jet in 2002 for the Clintons' humanitarian work, and they parted ways the following year.

"There's nothing that I saw when I was around him that made me realise he was trafficking women," he told the committee.

Epstein visited the White House numerous times during Mr Clinton's presidency, and there are photos of them shaking hands, but Mr Clinton said he did not recall those interactions.

At one point, Mr Clinton is asked if US President Donald Trump should be compelled to testify, to which he says it is not for him to decide.

He added that Mr Trump "did know him well" and started recounting a conversation he had with Mr Trump about Epstein.

"[Trump] never said anything to me to make me think he was involved in anything improper with regard to Epstein," he said.

In the conversation, which occurred at one of the president's golf courses, Mr Clinton says Mr Trump told him he fell out with Epstein over a property deal.

"'We've had some great times over the years. But we fell out all because of a real estate deal," Mr Clinton said, quoting Mr Trump.

Mr Clinton added later in the deposition that Mr Trump never put any "sexual spin" on conversations that involved Epstein.

Hillary storms out, denies meeting Epstein

In her deposition, Ms Clinton denied ever meeting Epstein.

"I do not recall ever encountering Mr Epstein. I never flew on his plane, or visited his island, homes or offices," Ms Clinton said.

"Like every decent person, I've been horrified by what we have learned about their crimes."

She went on to say it was "unfathomable" that Epstein was handed just a "slap on the wrist" in 2008.

About 60 minutes into her deposition, one of Ms Clinton's lawyers tells the group that a photo from inside the room has been leaked on social media.

The deposition was a closed-door hearing, so her lawyer asked how this photo was permissible and who shared it.

A politician from within the room admits to sharing a photo on her social pages, saying it was taken before the hearing began.

"I am done with this," Ms Clinton interrupts.

"If you guys are doing that, I am done. You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behaviour.

"I am done," she adds as she stands up from her chair before the hearing takes a break.
