A man allegedly involved in a shooting at Wellington Hospital this week has appeared in court

A man allegedly involved in a shooting at Wellington Hospital this week has appeared in court

The clash, which began outside a motel opposite the hospital on Wednesday evening, saw police swarm the area and hospital security boosted.

A 40-year-old man has appeared in the District Court charged with possession of an offensive weapon - a machete.

He didn't enter a plea and has been bailed until his next appearance later this month.

He's been ordered to live at home, and his name is suppressed.

Police are still searching for the person alleged to have fired at an occupied ute.
