???1;The skipper of a boat that capsized on Manukau Harbour in 2022 has pleaded guilty to two manslaughter charges at the High Court in Auckland

Gemma Karen Ferregel, and her 10-year-old son Ryder drowned, when the five onboard were thrown into metre-high waves - after being steered off course by the 10-year-old.

Skipper Kevin Andrew McQuire managed to tread water until help arrived - while the other two swam to shore.

Court documents reveal McQuire's boat had no functioning radio to call for help and not enough lifejackets - he also hadn't checked the weather forecast.

He will be sentenced in December.
