Reese Witherspoon thinks Will Ferrell is a "comedy genius"

The 48-year-old actress admitted starring opposite Will, 57, in 'You're Cordially Invited' was a "bucket list" moment for her and Reese couldn't have turned down the opportunity to work with the comedy star

Reese told Britain's HELLO! magazine: "I loved the script, and then of course I got to work with Will Ferrell. How could I say no?

"It felt like a real bucket list moment for me, because I have been a Will Ferrell fan forever.

"It had been 25 years since we did a sketch together [on 'Saturday Night Live'], so we did do camera tests, but it's just so easy with Will. He's so easy to work with, so generous; I loved working with him.

"The man is a comedy genius. He's funny without even trying. I only have to look at him and I'm laughing."

Reese's favourite moment in their new film comes when Will had to wrestle an animatronic alligator.

The Hollywood star laughed: "That's something I will never forget, Will, an alligator and me on the floor covered in fake blood.

"That was a pretty crazy day."

The 'Legally Blonde' actress thinks her latest work is exactly what audiences need right now.

The Oscar-winning star said: "I don't think we had enough romantic comedies like this for a while.

"We need movies that are fun and relatable and that we can all just enjoy. This is up there with the most fun I've ever had going to work.

"Maybe we all need to learn that sometimes the best things come out of something that didn't initially turn out the way you wanted."
