    A crash and subsequent fire in southern Bay of Plenty is blocking State Highway 5


    Police say a car caught on fire after colliding with a tree between Harwoods and Tapapa roads, about 10.45.

    It's believed flames spread to nearby vegetation.

    There's no word on possible injuries.

    Drivers should consider an alternate route.
