Kelsey Grammer's youngest children do not realise how famous their dad is

The Cheers and Frasier legend says daughter Faith, 13, and sons Gabriel, 11 and eight year old James - whom he has with his wife, Kayte Walsh - get excited when they drive around Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, and come into contact with a tour bus, but they get soon left puzzled when Kelsey, 70, is recognised.

He told E! News: "They get a kick out of when we're driving around Hollywood, and they'll see the tourist bus, or one of the Hollywood maps guys, and they'll go, 'Oh, there's Kelsey Grammer over there.' And the kids are like, 'What's going on?'"

As the globally successful sitcoms Cheers and Frasier were before Faith, Gabriel and James' time, they were amazed by his performance as Dr. Hank McCoy - also known as the Beast - in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, and 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Kelsey said: "At first they were very, very sheepish about it at first. Then they finally came up and said, 'Do you really play Beast?'

"[Their reaction was], 'Wow! That's cool!'"

Kelsey then joked: "It was the first time I was cool. But that was pretty great."

Elsewhere in his interview with the publication, the Turbulence star shared his plans for Christmas with his family.

Kelsey - who also has a two-month-old son called Christopher with Kayte - said: "My sons love Christmas. They love decorating the tree. I'm hanging the lights. We're still a very traditional family in that way, everybody's very happy about Santa Claus.

"We're looking forward to a great visit from the man in red. It's very exciting."

But what Kelsey is most looking forward to is "just really sitting around with the kids and spending time with them".

The Simpsons voice actor added: "Opening presents on the day, trimming the tree is fun. We always do that together. They love putting on ornaments. This year, with a new baby in the house, I think they'll have a renewed sense of occasion."

Kelsey is also dad to daughter Spencer, 42, with his 69-year-old ex-wife, actress Doreen Alderman; daughter Greer, 33, with his former partner, hair stylist Barrie Buckner; as well as daughter Mason, 24, and son Jude, 21, with his 57-year-old ex-spouse, actress-and-dancer Camille Meyer.
