Auckland's central city is set for a boost, with upgrades to the home of the ASB Classic tennis tournament

Auckland Council's secured a 15-million-dollar revamp of Manuka Doctor Arena - including 5-million-dollars for a new roof.

The ASB Classic adds over 2-million-dollars to Auckland's GDP each year, but Mayor Wayne Brown says rain has spoiled play too often.

Auckland Unlimited CEO Nick Hill says the upgrades will open the door to more events - and more reasons to visit the city centre.
