Police still haven't spoken to three victims fighting for their lives in hospital - after a shooting at a Waitarere Beach home this week

A 60-year-old man died and a woman and two young men are critically injured - after being shot at the Horowhenua property.

Police say they're in the very early stages of enquiries, and won't be responding to statements from the family at this point.

They say the man's grieving family will be looking for answers on how this unfolded.

But they say it's imperative investigation teams are given the time and space to conduct a thorough investigation.
