Nikki Glaser got "paid well" to babysit Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann's children

The 41-year-old actress was given "$35, $40 an hour" by the couple to look after their daughters, Euphoria star Maude Apatow and Sausage Party cast member Iris Apatow, in 2007, when Judd and Leslie were working on their comedy-drama film, Funny People - which came out in 2009.

During an appearance on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday (13.01.26), Nikki recalled: "I was really tickled by that because it's such a special moment for me that I started out as his babysitter."

She continued: "They paid well. This was 2007, I think it was like $35, $40 an hour, which was like more than I had ever been paid to babysit, and his kids were so sweet, they were so funny."

The comedienne said one of her standout memories from babysitting Maude and Iris - now aged 28 and 23, respectively - was when fellow comic-and-actor Adam Sandler, 59, phoned while filmmaker Judd, 58, and actress Leslie, 53, were out.

Nikki shared: "I remember one night Adam Sandler called, Judd and Leslie were out, and I picked up the phone, and he was like, 'Hello?' And I was like, 'Hi.'

"He was like, 'Hello, Maude, this is Adam.' And I was like, 'Oh, no, this is the babysitter.' He said, 'Oh, sorry, you're the babysitter? I'm Adam Sandler. And how's your night going?'

"He asked me how my night was going. It was my first interaction with Adam Sandler, and I have loved him ever since. I was like, 'That is the nicest call I've ever gotten from someone when I was babysitting.'"

Nikki also revealed that she asked Judd for an audition in Funny People while she was babysitting, and pointed out that the character Daisy Danby - a "struggling 25-year-old comedienne in Los Angeles, who loves Wilco" - which, ultimately, went to Aubrey Plaza, 41, mirrored her.

Nikki added: "I really was embarrassed to do it. I never took that job like, 'It's an opportunity [to land roles].' But then it's like this role that is you, and he's wanting real people.

"I thought, 'This would be so dumb if I didn't do it.' My friend said, 'You didn't move to Los Angeles to be the greatest babysitter.' And so I said, 'OK, I'll do it.' And so he gave me an audition, and it was really nice."

Today, Nikki - whose first film role was as Olympia in the 2009 comedy-musical, Punching the Clown - and Judd are "writing a movie together".

Nikki said: "I was secretly dying to work with him.

"I'd done a scene in Trainwreck and saw how he was on set, and I was like, 'This seems so fun,' and I always loved his work. But I would never have dared to ask him for anything again.

"I think he asked me if I wanted to come in and talk about any ideas. And so I went in, and we were just talking like old friends, and I started opening up about things I was struggling with, and where I am in my life, and not having kids and not having a family and pursuing a career.

"And not being married and wondering if I should, and I'm scared of commitment and scared of forever, and he got something out of me that we thought, 'OK, this could be a really fun idea for a movie.'

"But he got it out of me, I didn't come in with anything."

Nikki - who has been dating ex ecutive TV producer Chris Convy, on and off since 2013 - said that the movie is "going to be funny", and added: "Like all of his films, there's going to be heart in it, and there's going to be real emotions, I hope. and come from a real place."
