The Catholic Church's Canterbury Diocese is being praised, for opting to rebuild its Christchurch Cathedral at its former site

The Catholic Church's Canterbury Diocese is being praised, for opting to rebuild its Christchurch Cathedral at its former site

Mayor Phil Mauger says it's a good decision.

He says they originally bought land by the Town Hall, but rethought that move after upheaval from the Vatican.

Mauger says this option will be cheaper than the Anglican Cathedral restoration's plan, and may be completed sooner.
