Investigations into a suspicious fire in the Wellington suburb of Mt Cook this morning

Investigations into a suspicious fire in the Wellington suburb of Mt Cook this morning

The historic Boys Institute building on Tasman Street, which is now owned by the Chinese Embassy, was engulfed in flames around midnight last night.

Fire officer Murray Pike says working to put out the flames in the derelict building was tough.

He says being a two storey concrete structure made the fire difficult to extinguish
