Former Black Caps coach Mike Hesson understands why minimal changes have been made to the test squad to play India, despite a 2-nil loss to Sri Lanka

The sole adjustment sees Mark Chapman added as injury cover for batter Kane Williamson who will likely only play in the latter part of the three-match series due to a groin strain.

Hesson says Henry Nicholls might've been in the conversation, but otherwise the status quo makes sense.

The first test starts in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
