Drew Barrymore is "not ready" for another relationship and only goes on dates "occasionally"

The 49-year-old actress-turned-TV host has been married three times - to Jeremy Thomas, Tom Green and Will Kopelman - and is mother to two daughters with her third husband but she's stepped away from the dating scene since her last divorce in 2016 and now admits she's not committed to finding love again

She told AARP The Magazine: "I date occasionally, but no way am I ready to open that door ... My girls say I should go on dates, but I also know how I felt when men were around when I was little - it didn't feel safe to me, so I'm probably overcautious from those experiences."

Drew went on to talk about stepping away from Hollywood to focus on her family - and admits she has no regrets about giving up her movie career.

She said: "I was in my early 40s, and not learning how to be my own healthy, independent individual, how to be the parent I dream to be.

"Being other people doesn't help me figure that out right now. And the long hours of doing films were hours I wouldn't have with my kids. I wasn't going to do that."

She added of her split from Kopelman: "My dream family was falling apart and I didn't know how to put one foot in front of the other. And I had grown up so fast but now I didn't know what age to feel - I just knew that my life was heavy, and painful and sad - and I sat in that for a while.

"Eventually, thank goodness, I lifted myself out of it. I had two kids and I had to figure it out."

Dreww previously opened up about her decision to quit Hollywood in a 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Times, insisting she is still not ready to come back yet.

She told the publication: "I just need to be myself. I struggle to be someone else. But I just can't see acting right now.

"I know that sounds sad and dismissive, and I hate when people are like, 'I'm retiring,' or 'This is my goodbye.' I don't want it to come off that way."
