Revelations Hamilton ED staff said an unidentified patient looked like a child - before the 11-year-old was treated as an adult mental health patient

Revelations Hamilton ED staff said an unidentified patient looked like a child - before the 11-year-old was treated as an adult mental health patient

Health New Zealand has released a review and recommendations into the girl with autism - being admitted and administered an adult anti-psychotic drug.

Chief Clinical Officer, Richard Sullivan says a later team was told the girl was a missing woman, in her 20s.

Sullivan says staff acted off the best information they had, and the report found unfortunately, there was no other means to identify her.

A national policy on unidentified patients has been recommended.
