Sharon Stone is teaming up with Mugler for a new capsule collection

While the fashion brand is awaiting initial designs from its new creative director Miguel Castro Freitas, the company has looked to the past with 24 looks from its archive getting reinterpreted for a new project.

Basic Instinct star Sharon has been brought on board for the Re/Edit collection, which ranges from lingerie-inspired tailored designs to red carpet dresses.

As reported by Women's Wear Daily, the latter takes its a lead from ready-to-wear and couture fashion between 1985 and 2000, which are gaining popularity with younger generations.

The capsule is set to launch via Mugler's online boutique - plus select speciality stores around the world - from September 2025.

Founder Thierry Mugler died of natural causes in 2022 at the age of 73.

Sharon is no stranger to the brand, having worn them in 1992 when the designer was honoured by the California Fashion Industry Friends of AIDS Project.

Speaking at the time, she told WWD: "Acting is from your soul. Modelling is from your ego."

Earlier that same year, Sharon had to wear a polyester jumpsuit to her first Academy Awards because no designer would lend her a dress.

The Basic Instinct star was asked to present an award at the Oscars in 1992 just days after the iconic movie hit the big screen, and so as an unknown actress she wasn't given the same support as more famous names.

During a previous appearance on iHeartRadio's Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast, she said: "All these people in their $40,000 or $50,000 dresses and I went and bought a Betsey Johnson polyester jumpsuit, because that was the best I could do.

"I'm doing my own hair and makeup and I was just like, 'Wow, this is awful. Like, how am I going to do this, right?' "
