Jessica Simpson has treated fans to a rare insight into her "heart of gold" son Ace's life as she marked his 12th birthday

Captioning an Instagram photo carousel of the pair having bonding time over the years, she wrote: "Happy 12th Birthday Ace!!!

"You are the sun. You are the moon. You are the wishes of every shooting star. You are the light. You are the way. You are the love that makes your Mamas heart glow!

"There's absolutely nothing you can't do. You excel in every single thing without even tryin'. You're just that kid with a heart of gold that can do it ALL.

"Everything you do and all that you are makes me so very proud. I love you ACE the GREAT! (sic)."

The I Wanna Love You Forever hitmaker - who also has Birdie Mae, six, and Maxwell Drew, 13, with Eric, who she split from in January after 10 years of marriage - showed her followers that Ace is taller than the 5ft 3in blonde bombshell in a black-and-white snap of then at one of the Six Flags theme parks.

Elsewhere in the series of joyous images, Jessica and Ace could be seen posing together on his 12th birthday.

Many of Jessica's followers wished Ace a happy birthday in the post's comments section.

One person wrote: "Nothing better than a mother's love and what a sweet note, Happy Bday (sic)."

A second user penned: "Jess you are so beautiful!

In September 2024, The Dukes of Hazzard actress shared a black-and-white photo of her and Ace standing back-to-back to highlight his growth spurt on her Instagram Stories.

He sported a pair of basketball sneakers, whilst Jessica opted for a pair of leopard-print fuzzy slippers.
