The Kiwis playmaker sat out the qualifying win over the Bulldogs with the injury suffered on his return from five weeks out with a dislocated shoulder.
Hughes has told AAP that his first training session since surgery wearing a new arm brace went well.
The Storm have the week off and face either the Raiders or Cronulla next Friday for a spot in the grand final.
