Eddie Murphy "was never one for giving advice" to other comedians

The 64-year-old star is widely regarded as one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time, but Eddie resists the temptation to share his knowledge and experience with up-and-coming comedians, observing that "no two people are having the same experience".

Eddie told Extra: "I was never one for giving advice ... no two people none of the eight billion people on the planet, no two people are having the same experience. So, I kind of never got into advice, never got into taking advice from anybody.

"When I blew up it was a whole different show business. It's a whole different landscape. It's just a different world."

Eddie has focused on his acting career in recent decades. However, he remains open to the possibility of returning to stand-up comedy at some stage in the future.

He said: "I'm open to it again. And if it ever struck me that I could have some fun doing it, I'd get up there and do it again ... But it has to be fun for me ... If I'm having fun, it's going to work and it's going to be funny."

The Hollywood star is the focus of a new Netflix documentary called Being Eddie, which features other well-known comedians talking about Eddie's impact on their own careers.

Eddie reflected: "It's just a great feeling. To know that you had some impact on the people that came after you that they look at you a certain way ... that's always a good feeling."

Earlier this year, Pete Davidson revealed that Eddie actually inspired him to reduce his social circle.

The actor starred alongside Eddie in The Pickup, their comedy movie, and Pete confessed to being inspired by his co-star.

Speaking to People, Pete joked: "I've been guilty of having 700 friends in the green room. People I just met or are just in the crew, and then I'm like, 'Why did they not have my best interest in mind?'"
