Gordon Ramsay was instantly attracted to his wife Tana when he first met her - even though she was dating one of his friends

The 59-year-old celebrity chef first met his partner when she was with his friend Tim, but she wasn't impressed and found him "really full of himself".

Speaking to OK! magazine, Gordon said: "Tana was driving the car and I was sat in the back seat looking at my mate going, 'Oh my god, your girlfriend is f****** gorgeous.'

"She looked like a young Julia Roberts and she brought this level of excitement like no other.

"I'm not sure what Tana said when she met me, I got the feeling she wasn't a big fan."

Tana admitted: "I thought he was really arrogant, really full of himself. He used to really irritate me."

A month later, the pair - who now have kids Megan, 27, twins Jack and Holly, 25, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse, two, together - were both single and they found a spark.

Tana recalled: "It took about a month and then we were both single. We ended up chatting one night and chatted all night. I must have fancied him."

Meanwhile, Gordon Ramsay says the family feud involving son-in-law Adam Peaty's relatives is "upsetting" and "self-inflicted from their side".

Adam's sister was the only member of his immediate family who attended his wedding to Gordon and Tana Ramsay's daughter Holly Ramsay Peaty in December but Hells Kitchen star Gordon has insisted his family and Adam have done nothing wrong.

He told the Daily Mail: "It's just upsetting. It's all self-inflicted from their side, because we've done nothing - none of what you've read: no rudeness, no ignorance - we welcomed them.

"We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty.

"So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously."

And Gordon insisted it was Holly, 26, and 31-year-old Adam's decision to keep his parents away from the wedding.

He said: "It was Adam and Holly's wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that. There's stuff they need to sort out as parents.

"That's nothing to do with Tana and me.

"But we are very mindful we want to move on and allow Holly and Adam to continue starting their lives together."
