Police were called to Grey Lynn about 2.30am, and found a 31-year-old stuck between a retaining wall and earthworks around Westmoreland Street West.
Senior Sergeant Shaun Richardson says they allege the woman had hours earlier stolen a handbag and keys from an Epsom home - and drove off in an Audi hatchback.
She is charged with burglary and unlawfully taking a vehicle, with a bedside court hearing expected today.
