Police have arrested a man in relation to the death of 10-month-old Poseidyn Hemopo-Pickering

The child died on September 6 in Starship Hospital, after being taken there from a South Auckland address the night before.

A 31-year-old has been charged with assaulting a child and is due to appear in Manukau District Court on Monday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Tiernan says the investigation is ongoing.

He says further charges are pending.
