The Government's denied it's Clear Car Package is breaking tax promises

The Government's denied it's Clear Car Package is breaking tax promises

It yesterday announced a fee would be tacked on to newly imported, higher emitting cars from January 2022.

Meanwhile, Kiwis who opt for an electric vehicle will be offered big discounts on both new and used car.

Finance Minister Grant Robertson says it's just about offering people options.

He says there's still a second hand market - this isn't a tax - and it doesn't go against anything the Government's said.
